Cambridge collaborates with numerous universities and programs to ensure that qualified students are enrolled in the appropriate programs. Not surprisingly, the requirements vary depending on the applicant’s location.

Students demonstrate their knowledge breadth by taking three or four A-level courses. They can also concentrate on their major subject by enrolling in three or four A-level courses.

Even though Cambridge accepts students from all over the world, the majority of decisions are made on an individual basis. There are no prerequisites that all candidates from outside the United Kingdom must meet.

Cambridge recommends that high school students in the United States take at least five AP tests and perform well on the ACT and SAT.

To be considered for admission, students must have a total SAT score between 1460 and 1500 and an ACT score between 32 and 36.

The Cambridge Colleges

As previously stated, the University of Cambridge is a collection of smaller colleges rather than a single large institution.

The university has 31 colleges. Even though these colleges are all affiliated with the University of Cambridge and share the same reputation and structure as the larger institution, they each operate independently, with their administrations, standards, and policymakers.

As a result, many colleges can be quite different from one another.

Cambridge began adding colleges again in 1800, after a nearly two-and-a-half-century hiatus, with the establishment of Downing College. Homerton College was established in 1796, but it did not relocate to Cambridge until 1894, and it did not become a full-fledged college until 2010. As a result, it is both old and new.

Girton College, the first school for women, opened in 1869; Fitzwilliam College, which opened in 1869; Newnham College, which opened in 1871; Selwyn College, which opened in 1882; Hughes Hall, which opened in 1885; St. Edmunds College, which opened in 1896; Murray Edwards College, which opened in 1958; Churchill College, which opened in 1958; Darwin College, which opened in 1964; Wolfson, which opened in 1965; Lucy Cavend, which opened in 1965 (1977).

How to Apply for a Cambridge University Program in 2023

Begin looking for ways to pay for your course at least a year in advance.

Apply as soon as possible, as many scholarship deadlines for the following school year fall in early December. If you start your course in January or April, you may need to apply for funding up to 18 months ahead of time.

Before you begin your studies, save money or make financial plans. If you cannot show proof of financial support, you will not be admitted to the university and will not be able to study here. You should not expect to find money once your course begins.
As described on these pages, you can apply for various types of funding both inside and outside of the university.

If you apply for a departmental award or a funded position, make sure to apply for other funding programs as well so you don’t miss out on other opportunities if the department doesn’t give you one.

If you are offered more than one full scholarship, you must accept only one.
You could also have several smaller scholarships that add up to a larger prize.
